Former ameer of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Sirajul Haq on Tuesday emphasized the continued importance of books in education and intellectual development, saying that the future of the country was closely linked to students and their pursuit of knowledge.
He expressed these views while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 15th International Publication Hall Book Fair organized by the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) at the University of Peshawar (UoP). Sirajul Haq said that students should strengthen their relationship with books alongside modern scientific tools and technology, noting that books remain the primary source of knowledge and have always served as lifelong companions for people of all ages.
He added that books play a fundamental role in shaping a conscious and developed society.
He urged students to actively promote knowledge and adopt positive intellectual and academic trends.
Representatives of leading publishers and educational institutions from across the country participated in the book fair, providing students access to a wide range of academic and research-oriented material.
The former senator appreciated the efforts of the IJT, saying such initiatives helped promote academic awareness and intellectual growth among students.
Earlier, IJT University Campus Peshawar Nazim Taqwim-ul-Haq and Waqas Ahmed briefed participants about the aims and objectives of the book fair, stating that such literary and academic activities would continue in the future to further encourage a culture of knowledge and critical thinking among students.
