Six people were killed and two others injured in separate incidents caused by heavy rains and flash floods across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during the last 24 hours, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) reported on Monday.
According to the PDMA damage report, the deceased included three men and three children, while the injured comprised one woman and one child. The incidents occurred in different districts, including Khyber, Mardan, Mansehra and Kurram.
The PDMA said heavy rains and flash floods also damaged three houses across the province. Two houses were partially damaged, while one was completely destroyed.
The authority said PDMA, Rescue 1122, district administrations and other relevant departments were coordinating relief activities in the affected areas.
District administrations have been directed to speed up rescue and relief operations and provide immediate assistance and relief goods to affected families.
According to the PDMA, water levels and flows in all major rivers and streams across the province remain normal.
The authority has advised citizens to avoid unnecessary travel, refrain from visiting sensitive tourist locations and follow official alerts and advisories issued by government departments.
The PDMA Emergency Operations Centre remains fully operational. The public can contact the free helpline 1700 for information regarding any emergency situation, weather updates or to report any untoward incident, the PDMA spokesperson said.
