Small dam in Lower Dir to be completed in two years

Work on Sanam dam would be completed within two years that will cost Rs714 million.
Briefing local politicians and district administration in Chakdara, Mohammad Iqbal Khalil, the managing director of the project, said that water channels of the dam would irrigate 1,500 acres of land in Adenzai. MPA Bakht Baidar Khan, Khizar Hayat, deputy director, Attaur Rehman, deputy commissioner, Shah Jamil, assistant commissioner, and local elders attended the briefing.
The construction of Sanam dam has been a long standing demand of the people of Adenzai. The dam will be built in Sanam area on Asbanr stream.
Mr Khalil said that small dams on rivers and streams had great importance in preventing soil erosion, generating energy and flourishing fisheries. About the Sanam dam, he said that 90 per cent funds would be provided by the federal government. He said that work on the project would be started soon.
