ATTOCK: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Attock Rao Atif Raza on Saturday said concrete steps were being taken to ensure rehabilitation and social inclusion of persons with disabilities in the district. He was addressing a ceremony held at the Government Asfand Yar Bukhari District Hospital where customised wheelchairs were distributed among special children, reported by media correspondent. DNA
During the ceremony, 50 customised wheelchairs were distributed among special children. Officials said this marked the second phase of the initiative, adding that 350 wheelchairs had already been distributed in the first phase. Speaking on the occasion, the DC reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to supporting special children and enabling them to become active members of society.
He said caring for and facilitating persons with disabilities was a collective responsibility, and the district administration would continue to extend full support to welfare-oriented initiatives. He appreciated the collaboration of non-governmental organisations and noted that meaningful social welfare goals could be achieved through coordinated efforts between public and private sectors. Participants termed the initiative a significant step towards improving the quality of life for special children in the district.
