Successful local body elections great achievement of KP govt: Faisal Amin

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government, Elections and Rural Development Sardar Faisal Amin Gandapur has said that holding the local body elections long before all other provinces is a great achievement of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to be written in golden words in our national history.
Talking to various delegations of local bodies representatives and municipal officers at his office in Civil Secretariat Peshawar, he said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has become the first province to hold transparent and timely local bodies elections in the province including the merged districts. He said that officials of the local government department have successfully carried out their election duties while preparations for holding local bodies elections are now underway in other provinces. He said that local bodies elections were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on realistic basis and rules were amended as per public requirements.
“Village and Neighborhood Councils were adopted in place of Union Councils while Tehsil Council level elections done instead of District Councils that will greatly help to solve the problems of the people locally as soon as possible”, he revealed.
The Minister said that Local Government Department has been very active in preparing the local government laws and approving it from the Cabinet while no LG authorities have given him or his govt a chance to complain at any stage, he added.
Sardar Faisal Amin Gandapur assured that adequate arrangements have been made for the newly elected Tehsil Chairmen and other local body representatives for offices, vehicles and development funds and for this purpose required resources are being allocated in the budget of the new financial year. He particularly appreciated the excellent performance of Sajid Gul, Secretary Coordination, Local Government Department, in providing effective assistance to the Election Commission in timely completing the delimitation process and evolving rules of business for the local body elections and hoped that all the officers of the Local Government Department would be unitedly continue to perform their duties with teamwork.
