The teachers community disapproved of pension reforms and privatization of government schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in a protest rally held in front of Jamurd press club on Thursday.
On the call of All Government Employees Grand Alliance, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, under the banners of All Teacher Association (ATA) Khyber and School Officer Association (SOA) a protest rally was organized in front of Jamrud press club that was attended by scores of teachers.
Addressing on the occasion district head of ATA Naseer Shah Afridi, President of SOA Shah Jehan Afridi and others categorically condemned the government for originating anti-teachers/government employees policies and said they were united to safeguard their rights.
They said that the federal and the provincial government targeted the government employees and in the name of pension reforms, deprived them of their old age benefits that was unfair.
They blamed the incumbent government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for granting the State-run schools to a few nears and dears without proper procedure in the name privatization that was equllent to denying the right of poor children to get free education.
Protest demonstrations had been initiated across the province to compel the government to withdraw the decisions of privatization of government schools and pension reforms in the best interest of the employees and the masses, they remarked.
The participants were carrying placards inscribed with writings against pension reforms and privatization of government –run schools, chanted full-throat slogans against it and dispersed peacefully.
