PESHAWAR: All academic activities at the University of Peshawar remained completely suspended on Monday following a boycott announced by the Peshawar University Teachers Association (PUTA), resulting in the cancellation of classes across all departments. On the call of PUTA, teachers boycotted classes, bringing the teaching process to a complete halt. Although students reported to the university, they faced serious difficulties due to the unavailability of classes. The boycott was announced in protest against what the association termed the continuous failure of the vice chancellor to convene a meeting of the Selection Board. According to PUTA, despite a general body resolution passed on January 12, 2026, followed by an executive meeting on January 30 and a press conference on February 4, the university administration was given multiple opportunities to address the issue, but no practical progress was made. The association made it clear that the boycott would continue until the Selection Board meeting was convened, warning that the university administration would bear full responsibility for any situation arising from the protest. Meanwhile, students and their parents have urged the administration and teachers to resolve their differences at the earliest to ensure the resumption of academic activities. DLP Report
