Islamabad High Court (IHC) has remarked the gifts given to the rulers are not their gifts but they are gifts for people.
The court remarked “ don’t tell about it if there is some defence related gift. But why there is restriction on making every gift public. If some country has given necklace as gift then what is harm in making it public. Why the government is becoming ashamed of by not telling about the gifts which are given by other countries.
The court observed why the government does not keep all the gifts in museum. Government should make public all the gifts received from other countries during the last ten years. Government should also tell it had got assessed how much gifts from FBR.
A single bench of Islamabad High Court (IHC) led by Justice Mian Gul Hassan Aurangzeb took up for hearing petition filed by cabinet division against Information commission orders on the matter of making public the information related to gifts received by the Prime Minister.
The government once again sought time from the court on whether they will inform or otherwise about the gifts received by PM from other countries.
The court adjourned the hearing of the case on government request.
