Islamabad : Director General of Military’s public relations department ‘Inter Service Public Relations’ Major General Iftikhar Babar has said that there is no structure of any terrorist organization in Pakistan.
They [terrorists] are based in Afghanistan and are being supported by India, he made it clear.
Talking to private news channel on Saturday, DG ISPR said that our armed forces are ready to resist enemies.
Pakistan has left no stone to help Afghan peace process, but we are not the guarantors of peace in Afghanistan. All the Afghan respondents will have to decide their future course, the military spokesperson said.
Babar Iftikhar said that we have created a strategy to combat future hazards and dangers, adding that our soil will never be used against any other nation.
“We are keeping a close eye at ever-changing situation of the region. We have taken all the precautionary measure to nullify hazards that will take place after US withdrawal from Afghanistan”, the military spokesman said.
Talking about the impacts of turmoil in Afghanistan, he said that chaos and instability in the neighboring country will have adverse effects on Pakistan.
“Situation in Afghanistan can create security challenges for Pakistan. Re-activity of sleeper cells of terrorists in Pakistan and a unification of banned terrorist organizations remain top threats,” the ISPR Major General said.
Giving an overview of Pakistan’s initiatives for border-crossing’s security, the military man said that 90 percent of border crossing with Afghanistan has been hedged, while Iran border will also be safeguarded the same way.
“Hundreds of military check posts have been established at border areas. The border control system has been upgraded and biometric system has been installed on border-crossings”, Major General Babar Iftikhar told the private TV channel.
Military spokesman further said that recent terrorist attacks had a connection with Afghanistan. “Their leadership is sitting in Afghanistan”, the DG ISPR said, adding that these terrorists have constantly been striving to sabotage Pakistan’s peace.
He said that international bodies were accepting Pakistan’s role to curb terrorism from the region and Pakistan’s fight against terror.
Our nation has given immense sacrifices during this war and our economy saw huge losses. Now we have wiped out terrorism and its masterminds from our soil, he said.
To a question related to India’s increasing role in Afghanistan, DG ISPR replied that their [India’s] role was increased in Afghanistan which was used to harm Pakistan.
“India invested billions of dollars there and it only aimed to hurt us”, he said, adding that India is re-structuring anti-Pakistan elements in Afghanistan.
