A meeting chaired by Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr. Zahidullah was held to review the overall traffic management system in Peshawar.
The meeting was attended by SP Traffic Headquarters Arbab Shafiullah Jan, SP City Riaz Khan Khalil, SP Cantt Abdul Rahim, SP Town Imtiaz Khan, along with DSPs, traffic officers, and traffic wardens.
The CTO received a detailed briefing on the operations carried out by the City Traffic Police during the past week.
The briefing covered actions against encroachments, the use of tinted glasses, overloading, violations of no-parking zones, mandatory helmet and seat belt enforcement, one-wheeling, unregistered motorcycles, and other ongoing traffic campaigns.
Expressing satisfaction over the performance, Dr. Zahidullah instructed that all ongoing campaigns across the city be further intensified. He emphasized that traffic officials must adopt a “greet first, then speak” policy and continuously educate citizens about traffic rules, including the use of helmets, seat belts, driving licenses, no-parking restrictions, one-way regulations, and the dangers of one-wheeling.
He also directed that pamphlets be regularly distributed so that citizens may further spread awareness in their communities.
The CTO reiterated that operations against encroachments must continue without any leniency. He stressed that all available resources should be utilized to ensure smooth traffic flow throughout the city and warned that no negligence would be tolerated.
Strict legal action, he said, will be taken against violators. He also ordered that effective checks and balances be maintained following anti-encroachment operations to prevent future violations.
