A highly wanted terrorist affiliated with Fitna al-Khawarij was killed in an exchange of fire during a joint operation by Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) Sindh in Karachi, the Sindh Rangers spokesperson said on Sunday. Fitna al-Khawarij is the state-designated term for the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan.
According to the Sindh Rangers spokesperson, the operation was carried out based on intelligence reports about the presence of the terrorist in the Gulbai area of Sher Shah.
The deceased terrorist was identified as Qari Ziaur Rehman alias Qari Saifullah, who belonged to Bajaur, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P). Weapons and ammunition were recovered from him, he added.
The Rangers spokesperson said, “Rehman had been highly wanted by law enforcement agencies for his involvement in multiple attacks on Pakistan Army and Frontier Corps camps, as well as other acts of terrorism”.
According to the spokesperson, he had joined the Qari Darvesh alias Bandiwan group of Fitna al-Khawarij in 2006 and later received training at a terrorist training camp in Bajaur, the spokesperson added.
