Two units sealed for producing sub-standard, seets, spices

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Authority seized large quantities of unhealthy sweets and substandard spices from two production units near Sazi-e-Mandi area of Peshawar.
The units were producing unhealthy sweets with the help of expired edible oil and non-food grade colors.
A press release said that the action was taken on the directives of the authority Director General Shahrukh Ali Khan. During the raid the team confiscated and discarded over 100 liters of spoiled edible oil, more than 1 kg of harmful dyes and more than 30 kg of sweets.
It said that the sweets produced in the factory were supplied to various locations in the city, which were sold in shops and markets.
During the operation, the units were sealed, while action will be taken against the involved persons under the Food Safety Act.
The authority from another unit in the same area also recovered more than 40 kg of non-food grade color and china salt, which was used in the preparation of spices.
