The Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation will offer ten scholarships to the deserving and talented students of UET Peshawar at Undergraduate level for the academic session 2022-2023. This was decided in a MOU ceremony held here the other day.
The documents were endorsed by Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar Prof Dr. Iftikhar Hussain and Director Karwane-e-Ilm Foundation, Khalid Irshad Soffi in presence of senior officials of UET Peshawar.
Khalid Irshad Soffi said, the primarily objective of Karwan-e-Ilm Foundation’s financial assistance is to support the talented and deserving students from across Pakistan at all levels for achieving their educational objectives.
The scholarships awarded to UET Peshawar will holistically cover the expenses of the students including semester fee, hostel fee, stipend and other expenses so that they do not get struck at any stage of their engineering education. Prof. Dr. Iftikhar Hussain, Vice Chancellor UET Peshawar appreciated the initiative and urged the need to extend the scholarship portfolio in future.
He said, since UET Peshawar is a public sector university, majority of the students come from remote areas who show best academic performance, however, are unable to continue their studies due to lack of financial support from their parents.
On the other side, due to financial and economic crisis in the country, the Government has also decreased the number of scholarships to the deserving students of public sector universities which as a result has increased our dependency on such welfare institutions to help these students.
He expressed the hope through such initiative, we would be able to help the deserving students to come out of the crisis.
Director Student Affairs, Prof Dr. Gulzar Ahmad appreciated the Karawan-e-Ilm Foundation’s initiative for offering a comprehensive coverage through scholarship program.
He said, UET Peshawar would reach out to other donor organisations so that gap could be covered due to decrease in Government funding.
Dean Electrical and Computer Engineering, Prof Dr Amjid Ullah, Chairman Electrical Engineering Department, Prof Dr Syed Waqar Shah, Treasurer UET Peshawar, Prof Dr. Misbah Ullah, Director ORIC, Dr. Nasruminallah and Director Media Dr Shamaila Farooq were also present on the occasion.
