UNICEF project holds graduation ceremony at UoP

The UNICEF Social and Behaviour Change (SBC) Social Action Project Showcasing and Graduation Ceremony was held on the other day,at the Business Incubation Centre, University of Peshawar, where the efforts of student volunteers working on key social issues across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were prominently highlighted and appreciated.
The event was attended by distinguished guests, faculty members, UNICEF representatives and members of the 175-strong Volunteer Task Force of students from various districts who carried out Social Action Projects (SAPs) in their respective communities.
The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Mr. Radek, CFO UNICEF KP and Guest of Honour, Pro Vice Chancellor University of Peshawar, Prof. Dr. Naeem Qazi.
Other notable attendees included Dr. Ikramullah, Director REVAMP, Department of Health KP; Dr. Sajjad Ahmad Jan, Head of the Department of Economics; Prof. Dr. Basharat Hussain, Chairman, Department of Criminology; Mr. Sohail Khan, SBC Officer UNICEF; Mr. Abbass Khan, SBC Consultant UNICEF and Dr. Muhammad Ibrar, Assistant Professor, Department of Criminology and Deputy Director of Students’ Societies, University of Peshawar.
Under UNICEF’s Social and Behaviour Change initiative, student teams implemented Social Action Projects on seven critical thematic areas: Child Immunization, Child Marriages, Violence Against Children, Handwashing Practices, Out-of-School Children, Girls’ Education and Birth Registration.
The students presented the impact of their activities, community engagement outcomes and challenges faced during the implementation phase.
SAP teams delivered their final presentations during the ceremony, after which the winning groups were selected based on their performance and presentation quality.
UNICEF representatives appreciated the students’ efforts and awarded shields to the top-performing teams, while certificates were distributed among all participating students.The ceremony concluded with the presentation of shields to the distinguished guests and UNICEF officials, followed by a group photograph marking the culmination of the Graduation Ceremony.
