PESHAWAR
The US Consul General in Peshawar, Shante Moore, on Thursday paid a visit to the head office of Pakhtunkhwa Energy Development Organization (PEDO), an organization working for the production of electricity at the government level in the province.
According to a statement, he was accompanied by Political and Economic Chief Dustin De Grande and Economic Specialist Shahid Islam.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PEDO Engineer Naeem Khan gave the US Consul General Shante Moore a briefing of the ongoing power production projects in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
He was also informed that currently PEDO was working on several projects for the production of 2,000 MW of electricity in the province, including 771 MW at the government level, 800 MW with the support of the private sector and public private partnership.
In these projects, several measures are being taken for the social development of the people, including hydropower and solar energy.
He said that in order to overcome the ongoing energy crisis in the province and provide cheap electricity to the people, PEDO has set up a business and financial plan for the next 10 years, for which domestic and foreign investment is important.
He also presented some proposals for US financial support in some energy projects of Padoki, which included construction of new transmission lines, establishment of resource centromobile workshops, financing for timely completion of ongoing energy projects including Padoki Solarization.
At the end, the US Consul General was also given an honorary shield on behalf of the organization.
