SHO Khan Raziq Shaheed Police Station, Riaz Afridi, took swift action on Thursday and arrested a man identified as Hazrat Wali, who was seen in a viral video allegedly snatching a tablet at gunpoint in the junk market area. Weapons and mobile phones were recovered from his possession.
However, during the initial investigation, statements from shopkeeper Muhammad Imran and Taj Muhammad revealed that the viral video was misinterpreted and did not depict a robbery.
Both shopkeepers clarified that the individuals shown in the video were their acquaintances who had earlier left a tablet for repair and later returned to collect it after a delay.
The incident, they said, was a personal misunderstanding that was mistakenly portrayed on social media as an armed snatching.
A police spokesperson stated that Peshawar Police remains committed to transparent investigations and ensuring that factual information is shared with the public to prevent the spread of misinformation.
