The regional office of the Wafaqi Mohtasib has directed Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) to ensure timely disposal of pending public complaints and implementation of decisions issued by the ombudsman.
The directives were issued during a meeting between Regional Head of the Wafaqi Mohtasib Muhammad Qasim Jan and Pesco Chief Executive Officer Akhtar Hameed Khan in Peshawar on Thursday.
The meeting was also attended by Pesco Chief Law Officer Shakeel and Deputy Advisor (Implementation) of the Wafaqi Mohtasib office Muhammad Alamzaib.
It was decided that all concerned sub-divisional officers (SDOs) and focal persons would personally appear before the Wafaqi Mohtasib during hearings of complaints filed against Pesco.
The meeting further decided that all pending cases requiring implementation would be acted upon in accordance with the relevant rules and the company’s standard operating procedures. A committee headed by an officer not below the rank of superintending engineer would oversee implementation.
Pesco was also asked to regularly submit compliance reports to the regional head of the Wafaqi Mohtasib for monitoring and record.
Mr Akhtar Hameed assured the meeting that necessary instructions would be issued to the relevant formations with immediate effect to ensure timely redressal of complaints and compliance with the ombudsman’s directions.
The meeting stressed the need for improved coordination between the two institutions to strengthen accountability and ensure prompt relief to complainants.
