PESHAWAR: Constant rains in Hazara division and melting glaciers have led to a significant increase in the water storage level at Tarbela Dam. The dam official told media on Monday that the water level, which had previously dropped to 1402 feet, has now risen to 1427 feet and continues to increase. The dam’s full storage capacity is 1550 feet. Currently, the water inflow into Tarbela Dam has reached 50,300 cusecs, while the outflow is 20,000 cusecs. As a result, around 30,300 cusecs of water is being stored in the reservoir. Out of Tarbela’s 17 power generation units, 9 are operational while 8 remain closed. At present, the dam is contributing 1,170 megawatts of electricity to the national grid. The rise in water level is attributed to ongoing rains and glacier melt in the upper regions, which continue to feed the reservoir. APP
