Women empowerment high on Govt’s agenda: MNA lauds Services of IWCCI

Islamabad: Member of the National Assembly (MNA) Munaza Hassan has said that government is promoting gender equality and women empowerment is high on its agenda. We are reviewing all the existing laws and will introduce amendments to improve legislation to safeguard women rights and end discriminations as well as violence, she said. MNA and Secretary Women Parliamentary Caucus (WPC) Munaza Hassan said this while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry (IWCCI) led by its founder president Samina Fazil. She said that the government was committed to empower women and enhance their representation in all spheres of life. We will be left behind if men are not part of efforts to empower women which is key to national development, she said adding that women parliamentarians representing government and opposition are united to bring a change in the lives of women. She said that we need greater representation of women in political decision making in order to protect and defend the interests of half of our population which is facing challenges in achieving their goals.
