District and Session Judge Swat Asad Hameed Khan and District Police Officer (DPO) Muhammad Umar Khan on Monday inaugurated a Women Facilitation Centre at Police Station Kabal, established with the support of the United Nations.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from the police, prosecution, judiciary and provincial administration.
Speaking on the occasion, DPO Muhammad Umar Khan said the centre reflected the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s commitment to providing women with safe, dignified and confidential police services. He said the facility would enhance the police’s capacity to deal with cases of gender-based violence in a sensitive and professional manner, calling it an important step towards strengthening gender-responsive policing and victim-centred justice services in the district.
UN Women Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Provincial Head Zainab Khan said the facility was more than just a physical structure. She said it laid the foundation for integrated services for survivors of gender-based violence, ensuring dignity, protection and coordinated support within the police system.
Addressing the ceremony, District and Sessions Judge Asad Hameed Khan reaffirmed the judiciary’s commitment to victim-centred justice and said that gender-sensitive policing played a crucial role in building public trust in judicial institutions.
