PESHAWAR
Special Assistant to Chief Minister for Information and Public Relations Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif while addressing a workshop underscored media role in prevention of gender base violence, saying that social fabric of a society could not be maintained without women participation.
He said that women should have equal opportunities for education, employment, politics and other fields, adding that women play a greater role in nation development and prosperity.
“Journalists are playing an important role in preventing gender-based violence,” he added.
Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif expressed these views while addressing a training workshop for the journalists in Peshawar. The workshop was attended by the news editors of newspapers, disk-in-charge of TV channels and senior journalists.
The workshop was organized by the Commission on Status of Women Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Speaking on the occasion, Barrister Muhammad Ali Saif maintained that the art of journalists in the mass media institutions to turn any information into news and cut gender-sensitive sentences and words.
The training workshops organized in this regard also provide a new dimension to thinking and concern along with giving more awareness on this issue. He appreciated the efforts of the organizers for conducting training workshops on such topics.
Barrister Saif said that women have a very important role in maintaining the social fabric and educating society through their actions.
Providing equal opportunities to women in education, employment and politics is the need of the hour, he added.
