Workshop on risk assessment held in Swat

Community Resilience Workshop Activity-North (CRA-N) organized a five-day community risk assessment workshop on restoring flood-affected infrastructure and building resilience in the Panjigram area of the district.
According to a statement, the event was attended by more than 45 male and 15 female participants from Panjigram, Gulabad, and Dugiya villages in Bahrain.
The overall aim the was to equip skills and knowledge to effectively respond to natural disasters and build a resilient community.
Chairman tehsil Bahrain, Mian Shahid Ali and Sub Engineer at irrigation department Maaz Ikram attended the workshop as chief guests.
During this workshop, various topics were discussed and activities were conducted to address hazards such as floods, earthquakes, landslides, avalanches, GLOF, droughts, epidemics and pandemics, human-induced disasters, complex emergencies, and internally displaced persons.
The five-day training session includes a transit walk, in which participants explore the community’s environmental and social resources, conditions, and systems through observation, inquiry, listening, and producing a transect diagram.
Chairman Mian Shahid Ali expressed support for the activity and emphasized the importance of awareness in disaster management.
He said Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government was taking steps on disaster risks management and encouraged other organizations to work together for this cause. The community members appreciated the knowledge gained about disaster risk management and expressed readiness to work together towards minimizing the impacts of natural hazards.
Female participants highlighted the vulnerability of women and children during disasters and stressed the need to prioritize their safety.
Overall, CRA-N not only provides capacity building training but also include rehabilitating agricultural facilities affected by flood in Swat.
