The picturesque Baragali Campus of the University of Peshawar recently hosted the three-day “Social Media Mastery and Impact Summit,” bringing together 50 young participants from the newly merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The event, organized by WQ Softwares, and sponsored by the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, concluded on April 20th after an intensive program designed to equip youth with essential digital communication skills and network-building opportunities.
Throughout the summit, which ran from April 18-20, participants engaged in five interactive sessions focused on leveraging social media platforms for positive societal impact. The gender-inclusive gathering featured both young men and women eager to enhance their digital literacy and communication capabilities.
“This summit represents our commitment to empowering youth from the merged districts with skills that are crucial in today’s digital landscape,” said a representative from the Directorate of Youth Affairs during the closing ceremony.
Distinguished experts led the training sessions, including Irfan Younas, Media and Communication Lead at USAID; Shoaib Khan from HUM News; Dr. Zia, a noted policy expert; and social media specialists Aleena Ashfaq and Asif Khan. The diverse panel offered participants insights into strategic communication, content creation, and responsible digital citizenship.
Beyond the formal learning environment, attendees participated in enriching exposure visits to Nathiagali and the renowned Ayubia Pipeline track, providing networking opportunities amid the scenic beauty of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s mountainous region.
“The combination of professional development and cultural exposure makes this initiative particularly valuable,” remarked one of the trainers. “These young participants will return to their communities not only with enhanced digital skills but also with expanded perspectives.”
The summit’s question-and-answer sessions proved especially engaging, with participants raising inquiries about navigating misinformation, building personal brands, and utilizing social media for community development initiatives.
As Pakistan continues to witness rapid digital transformation, events like this summit play a vital role in preparing the next generation of communicators and influencers from historically underserved regions.
The Directorate of Youth Affairs has indicated plans to follow up with participants in the coming months to assess the practical implementation of skills acquired during the summit.
