Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister’s Adviser on Sports and Youth Affairs Taj Muhammad Khan Tarand on Wednesday said the youth were the country’s most valuable asset and a key force behind Pakistan’s future development.
In a message on World Youth Day, Mr Tarand congratulated young people across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Pakistan, saying the country’s large youth population represented both a major opportunity and a responsibility for the government.
He said the KP government had made youth empowerment and equal opportunities among its key priorities. Under the Ehsaas Naujawan Programme, he said, interest-free loans were being provided to young people to help them start businesses, while Jawan Markaz were being established in different districts to provide digital education, entrepreneurship guidance, career counselling and vocational training.
“Investing in the education, skills and abilities of young people is, in fact, an investment in the future of the country,” he said.
Mr Tarand said the government was working to ensure that young people in the province could use their abilities to secure dignified employment, establish businesses and contribute meaningfully to the development of society and the country.
Referring to PTI founder Imran Khan, he said the former prime minister had consistently emphasised investment in and empowerment of young people. He said the provincial government would continue taking practical measures to create more opportunities for the youth in line with that vision.
The adviser urged young people to focus on education and skills development, use their abilities in positive activities and play an active role in building a strong, prosperous and developed Pakistan.
