425 arrested, 36 criminal gangs unearthed in Peshawar

In order to maintain law and order situation and curb the menace of street crimes in the provincial capital, police claimed to have adopted a new strategy and successfully busted several gangs involved in street crimes.
According to a handout issued by the Peshawar Police spokesperson here on Tuesday during the ongoing year police have tightened their noses around the criminals and have unearthed the network of 36 dangerous gangs involved in robberies, theft and other anti-social activities in all divisions of Peshawar.
During different operations under the new strategy, police have arrested more than 425 persons allegedly involved in crimes.
Among the arrested persons were also accused belonging to the neighboring country of Afghanistan.
The arrested accused were part of the dangerous gangs who commit crimes at the point of arms in different areas of the city, including residential, suburban and suburban areas.
Similarly, women gangs involved in burglaries and looting by breaking into houses were also apprehended in the operations.
Police have sized Rs2.22 million and other valuables from the arrested suspects in operations.
52 gold, 149 stolen mobile phones have also been recovered from the arrested persons in operations conducted by police in different circles of Peshawar.
28 stolen vehicles and 36 motorcycles and weapons used in various incidents were also recovered.
Under the new strategy, by identifying hot spots, blockades are being implemented in the city, Ababil squad in all divisions, increased patrolling of local police including city patrol and snap checking process is going on.
SSP Operations Peshawar Haroon Rashid has said that a comprehensive crackdown on criminals has been launched and strict monitoring of the criminals have been initiated for maintaining security in Peshawar.
