CCPO says media is the fourth pillar of state

CCPO Abbas Ahsan termed the media as the fourth pillar of the state during a function held for journalists covering crimes related news in the provincial capital.
Capital City Police hosted a function for the journalists associated with print and electronic media. The function held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Line Peshawar.
Shahzada Kokab Farooq, SP Headquarters Rahim Hussain and Crime Reporters from print and electronic media including Divisional SPs attended the function.
In his reception, SSP Operation Haroon Rashid highlighted the role of journalists in the society and said that media is considered as the fourth pillar of the state.
Institutions as well as journalists have sacrificed their lives and their sacrifices are valued, the SSP operation added, adding that a suicide attack on Peshawar Press Club was carried out in the war on terror.
Speaking to Crime Reporters on the occasion, CCPO Abbas Ahsan praised the role and efforts of the journalists in maintaining law and order in the city, identifying crimes and raising awareness against drugs.
He added that a plan is being proposed to form committees consisting of journalists, PLC members and lawyers.
To a question, CCPO said that the investigation wing has been established to provide more manpower while the case has been sent to the provincial government for recruitment of more than a thousand personnel.
A new strategy has been devised against CCPOs, while traditional methods have been used to thwart criminals by adopting community policing and non-traditional methods, the CCPO said. He also informed about the new strategy adopted and digitization of important units for the convenience of the citizens.
