VP FPCCI calls on Talha Mahmood

Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi, Regional Chairman/VP FPCCI called on Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood, Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions (SAFRON) at his residence in Islamabad.
They discussed the issues facing the Business Community specially polymer waste importers and recyclers industry, taxes, customs tariff, electricity bills, inflation, various issues including the current economic situation.
Mr. Atif Nawaz Mughal Convener and Mr. Asif Sarwar, Deputy Convener of FPCCI RSC on “Polymer waste and Recycling” and others were also present. On this occasion, Muhammad Nadeem Qureshi said the business community is distraught due to the issue of customs tariff chapters 84 and 85.
He added that goods falling under the 84 and 85 chapters were not being cleared without the approval of State Bank. The goods have been stuck at ports for the last three months that causing huge losses to importers.
He requested that the issue of chapters 84 and 85 be resolved immediately by meeting with the Federal Finance Minister. Like always, we need a lot of your support at this time. Senator Muhammad Talha Mahmood assured full support and said we would raise this issue in the Senate Standing Committee on Finance, Revenue, and Economic Affairs to solve the 84 and 85-chapter issues.
We will resolve the problems of the business community on a priority basis. We will work together with the FPCCI for the economic development of Pakistan, he added.
