Action against drug suppliers in educational institutions intensified, SSP Operations

Capital City Police have launched a comprehensive crackdown against the networks involved in drug supply in educational institutions and to the general public.
The crackdown was launched on the instructions of Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Akhtar Hayat Khan Gandapur and Capital City Police Officer Syed Ashfaq Anwar, said a handout.
The aim of the drive is to protect the young generation of special students from drug addiction, especially ice, said SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi in a press conference.
During the press talk, SSP Operations Peshawar also shared details of successful operations in the campaign.
In this regard, special seminars are also organized from time to time in educational institutions to raise awareness against dangerous drugs, he said and added that under the new strategy against the elements involved in the nefarious drug trade, the crackdown continues across the district.
During the crackdown, 401 cases were registered across the district and 460 suspects involved in the heinous trafficking of various drugs (ice, heroin, HTC pills, hashish and alcohol) were arrested, he said.
Among those arrested are the accused who supply the dangerous drug ice to their particular customers in the vicinity of educational institutions.
During the campaign, the network supplying HTC tablets to universities, hostels and hostels etc. was also exposed and 3400 different colored bullets were recovered during the operation after arresting the leader of the network.
Inter-provincial and inter-provincial drug traffickers who smuggle drugs to other cities and provinces are also included in the campaign.
As per details, during the special campaign, the Faqirabad Division Police has carried out important operations during which toxic liquor factories established in residential houses and godowns have been sealed.
During the operations, networks supplying liquor to different areas and districts including the inner city were also caught and 32 kg of dangerous drug ice, 15 kg of heroin, 110 kg of hashish and 1670 liters of alcohol were recovered.
SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi maintained that significant achievements have been made under the new strategy, under which the scope of operations is being further expanded.
