CS-KP chairs meeting on good governance initiatives

A weekly review meeting on governance affairs was held under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Shahab Ali Shah, a handout said.
The meeting was attended by concerned administrative secretaries and other officials.
The meeting evaluated progress on key initiatives, including the Peshawar Uplift Plan, introduction of a digital payment system in place of cash, promotion of public-private partnerships (PPPs), master planning of tourist destinations, and enhancement of public services.
The statement said that the officials informed the meeting that a six-month comprehensive plan for the beautification, uplift, and rehabilitation of Peshawar was underway, aligned with the provincial government’s vision of people-centric governance.
As part of this plan, a survey of 32 roads, including the main GT Road, has been completed. In line with an environment-friendly strategy, efforts are being made to convert city rickshaws into electric vehicles.
The meeting was also briefed on legislative measures to establish a Public-Private Partnership Authority, which are expected to be finalized this month.
In addition, significant progress has been made in the digitalization of public service payments, with 33 services expected to go cashless by the end of December, easing transactions for the public.
To promote sustainable tourism, master planning and land-use measures were being implemented at tourist destinations, including improvements to hotel and restaurant sewage systems ahead of the next tourist season, it added.
The forum was informed that CCTV cameras were being installed in government facilities such as shelters, service centers, and hospitals.
