Speakers urged to protect and promote mother languages and said diversity of mother tongues was the source of strengthening and foundation for national development.
Speaking in a gathering, organized in connection of observing International mother language day in District Press Club, Landi Kotal on Saturday speakers including Tehsil Chairman Haji Shah Khalid as chief guest, Aftab Shinwari,Waseem Akram,Nisar Afghar and others said that mother language played a vital role in shaping identity and identity.
They called for usage of mother languages in educational curriculum, parliament, media and the judiciary.
Highlighting the importance of the mother language they said that all divine Books had been revealed in the mother language to clearly impart the heavenly message.
Pakistan was a culturally diverse country and every culture needs to be protected and promoted at the state level, they opined.
Urdu is our national language but mother tongue remains the first voice of children and the primary instrument through which they get knowledge and tradition, they remarked.
The day was observed to promote linguistic and cultural diversity as well as to protect and promote mother tongues.
It is to be mentioned here that mother language day was formally proclaimed by UNESCO to be observed worldwide on November 17, 1999.
