A consultative meeting of parliamentarians from the Peshawar Region was held at Pakhtunkhwa House in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Muhammad Sohail Afridi to review development priorities in the context of the Provincial Annual Development Programme (ADP) 2026–27.
The meeting was attended by senators, members of the National Assembly and members of the Provincial Assembly representing the Peshawar Region, according to an official statement. Participants held detailed consultations on proposed interventions and priority sectors for inclusion in the forthcoming ADP.
The meeting approved the inclusion of a new general hospital for Peshawar in the upcoming development programme. The project will be executed on a fast-track basis to address the growing healthcare needs of the provincial capital.
The chief minister also directed the inclusion of an electric bus project for public transport on the Peshawar Ring Road in the forthcoming ADP. In addition, he approved a feasibility study for a second Ring Road as a strategic initiative to ease increasing traffic congestion in the city.
Muhammad Sohail Afridi directed parliamentarians to submit proposals for constituency-based development schemes to the Chief Minister’s Secretariat by March 15 for consideration in the new ADP. He emphasized that project proposals should be guided by public need and demonstrable development impact.
He reiterated that the upcoming Annual Development Programme would be structured in line with the province’s overall development requirements and prevailing ground realities. Stressing timely and quality completion of ongoing schemes as a central priority, the chief minister said the new development programme would adopt a citizen-centered approach, based on realistic parameters and aimed at ensuring balanced and sustainable development across the province.
