Kohat on high alert as DC orders comprehensive security plan for Chehlum

Deputy Commissioner Kohat Muhammad Nawaz Wazir has on Monday directed all the relevant departments to ensure foolproof security, emergency medical preparedness and close inter-agency coordination for the peaceful observance of the upcoming Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
The directives were issued during a meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office attended by the ADCs, SP City and officials from Rescue 1122, the Health Department, TMAs, WSSC, PESCO, Civil Defence, the Pakistan Red Crescent Society and other relevant agencies.
The meeting reviewed security arrangements, traffic management, sanitation, emergency response and healthcare services for the religious processions and gatherings.
Wazir directed the authorities to immediately remove wall chalking and objectionable material along procession routes, while ensuring cleanliness, water sprinkling and the provision of safe drinking water.
He directed the Health Department to keep doctors, paramedics, medicines, ambulances and emergency medical equipment readily available at district hospitals and other healthcare facilities.
Rescue 1122, Civil Defence and the Pakistan Red Crescent Society were dirrcted to jointly establish medical aid camps and provide details of deployed personnel to the district police for security clearance.
PESCO was directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the processions and gatherings, avoid unnecessary power outages and promptly remove hanging electrical wires along the routes.
The Deputy Commissioner also ordered the district control room and command post to remain fully operational, direccted all departments to nominate focal persons and stressed timely information sharing and coordination to ensure the peaceful, secure and well-organized observance of the Chehlum.
