ISLAMABAD: Appointment of 3 vice presidents of International Islamic University (IIU) has been challenged in Islamabad High Court (IHC). The court while issuing notice to university has sought reply within two weeks. Petition filed by citizen Javed Akhtar came up for hearing before Justice Ayyaz Shaukat of IHC. Lawyer Akash Tara and lawyer Reehan ud Din appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioner. During the hearing of the case, counsel Akash Tara took the plea court’s decision is clear for Islamic university that appointments will be made transparently but no such process was adopted. The counsel took the plea appointments of vice presidents in the university should have been made on open merit. But these appointments were made only out of faculty members. He said the university made appointments by evolving its own procedure. Justice Ayyaz Shaukat directed during the hearing of the case it should also be seen if board of governors had delegated its powers to committee or otherwise. The court while issuing notice to International Islamic University directed it to file reply within two weeks besides adjourning the hearing of the case. Online
