Govt working to simplify tax returns for salaried individuals, says FinMin Aurangzeb

Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb and Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani launched the Retailer Scheme app at the FBR in Islamabad to register small shopkeepers and retailers under the Fixed Tax Scheme.
Speaking on the occasion, the Finance Minister said a simplified tax scheme had been a longstanding demand of traders and small shopkeepers. He said the Fixed Tax Scheme and the app have been developed in consultation with stakeholders.
Muhammad Aurangzeb assured shopkeepers that they would face no issues or harassment under the scheme.He expressed confidence that retailers would take full advantage of the facility. The Finance Minister said steps would be taken to bring every segment of society into the tax net.
Sharing the main features of the app, Minister of State for Finance Bilal Azhar Kayani said it facilitates easy registration and tax return filing for retailers with an annual turnover of up to two hundred million rupees. He said retailers can download the Asaan Tajir app from the Google Play Store and become tax filers through a simplified procedure.
He said the app is currently available in Urdu and will later be made available in other regional languages. Responding to a question, the Finance Minister said steps are being taken to simplify the tax returns for the salaried class.
