Muzammil pays surprise visit to Peshawar treasury office

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Adviser for Finance Muzammil Aslam paid a surprise visit to the Peshawar Treasury Office on Wednesday as part of the provincial government’s Good Governance Roadmap, reviewing the functioning of the office and measures for improving public service delivery.
Special Secretary Finance Zubair Ahmad, Consultant Waqas Paracha and Section Officer Zeeshan Khan accompanied the finance adviser during the visit, said a handout.
The statement said that the Treasury Officer and Director Dr Yaqoob Ahmad briefed Mr Aslam on the office’s day-to-day treasury operations and the services being provided to the public.
The adviser inspected different sections of the office and stressed the need to make public services more efficient, transparent and accessible, it added.
He called for greater use of digital payment systems to improve efficiency and reduce delays, while directing officials to ensure transparency at every stage of the treasury process.
Mr Aslam also reiterated the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and directed officials to strengthen the complaint redressal mechanism so that public grievances were addressed promptly.
He said government offices must remain focused on facilitating citizens and ensuring that public services were delivered in a transparent and accountable manner.
