A delegation of 33 trainee deputy superintendents of police (DSPs) of the Sindh Police visited the Central Police Office (CPO) here on Wednesday as part of their study tour of vKhyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Additional Inspector General (Operations) Mohammad Ali Baba Khel briefed the delegation on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Police’s counterterrorism strategy, technology-based policing, threat analysis and public service initiatives.
The delegation, comprising 26 male and seven female DSPs, is attending the fourth Specialised Training Course at the National Police Academy and is visiting KP under the leadership of SP Aurangzeb.
The briefing focused on the changing nature of terrorism and the use of technology and other tactics by militants. The delegation was informed about measures taken by the KP Police to counter these threats, including the use of modern technology, advanced weapons and intelligence-based policing.
The officers were also briefed on the force’s digitalisation initiatives and public service delivery. Officials said Police Facilitation Centres had been established at tehsil level across the province to provide multiple services to citizens under one roof.
They were further informed that the Police Facilitation Centre Global App had extended access to police services to people not only across KP but also to Pakistanis living abroad.
The delegation was briefed on the sacrifices rendered by the KP Police, the government-approved welfare package for police martyrs and measures for the health, education and welfare of their families.
Officials also highlighted police reforms, including the restructuring of the Counter Terrorism Department and Special Branch, expansion of their operational reach to all districts including the merged districts, establishment of a UAV division, provision of modern weapons and creation of new divisions for improved management.
The participants were also informed about measures for effective policing in the merged districts, capacity-building initiatives and specialised training programmes for police personnel.
The briefing also covered the establishment of Safe City Command and Control Centres in sensitive districts. Officials said the Safe City project had already been formally inaugurated in Peshawar, while work on the project in the southern districts was nearing completion.
The visiting officers took keen interest in the briefing and appreciated the KP Police for sharing detailed information about its policing initiatives.
They also acknowledged the force’s professional commitment and achievements in countering terrorism despite shortages of manpower and resources.
The visit concluded with an exchange of commemorative shields between senior police officers.
