Agriculture University holds seminar on NFC Award

The Youth Development Centre of the University of Agriculture, Peshawar, organized a one-day seminar on “KP NFC Share and Merged Areas’ Challenges” in accordance with the directions of the Chief Minister and Chancellor of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Universities. The session was presided over by Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeritus Dr. Jehan Bakht.
Keynote speaker and former IGP Dr. Syed Akhtar Ali Shah said that KP is confronted with numerous financial and administrative challenges. He noted that the province’s financial needs have increased sharply, particularly due to the development and rehabilitation requirements of the merged districts.
He emphasized the need for strong governmental efforts and a well-planned strategy to ensure harmony between the province and the federation within the National Finance Commission framework, enabling effective measures for public welfare. Dr. Shah urged the youth to play an active role in strengthening the economic system of both the province and the country.
Vice Chancellor Prof. Emeritus Dr. Jehan Bakht thanked the participants and highlighted Pakistan’s abundance of natural resources, including mountains, rivers, deserts, fertile valleys, minerals, and vast agricultural potential.
He said that KP’s rich mineral reserves must be utilized through effective planning. Stressing that the primary responsibility of universities is education and knowledge generation, he underscored the importance of adequately addressing the province’s financial needs in the NFC. Seminar organizer and Director of the Youth Development Centre, Dr. Anwar Ali Shad, formally welcomed the participants.
The event was attended by Dean Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafarullah Khan Marwat, Dean Prof. Dr. Shah Alam Khan, Director IBMS Dr. Muhammad Fayaz, Dr. Sartaj Alam, Chief Proctor Dr. Bashir Ahmad, Chairman Department of Entomology Dr. Amjad Usman, Chairman Department of Rural Sociology Dr. Asadullah Khan, Director Teaching Dildar Hussain, Dr. Arshad Khan, Dr. Ali Muhammad, Dr. Akhtar Ali, Dr. Humera Wasila, Dr. Saima Sareer, Dr. Zill-e-Huma, along with faculty members and administrative officers.
