The provincial president of Awami National Party (ANP) Aimal Wali Khan said that Kalabagh Dam construction issue had been buried as the project would cause a heavy flood in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), adding that the project aimed not to generate power but to provide water for Punjab barren lands. While criticizing the statement issued by the federal minister about the construction of Kalabagh dam, Aimal Wali Khan said Kala Bagh Dam has become a thing of the past.
He said that if the federal government attempted to raise the issue of Kalabagh dam, ANP would stage nationwide protests. Asfandyar Wali Khan had buried this project, he added.
Reacting to the Federal Minister for Water Resources raising the issue of Kalabagh Dam, Aimal Wali Khan said that the Federal Minister of Punjab should remember that Pakistan is not only Punjab, Kalabagh Dam will not be allowed. He said that every province has been given authority in the constitution and natural resources of KP have been seized and now there is an attempt to destroy agricultural production.
He said that we do not need certificates of loyalty from anyone but He clarified that in his report of WAPDA two decades ago it was stated that the cost of the Skardu power project from Kalabagh Dam is 600 times less. He clarified that Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar would not be allowed to destroy two provinces for settlement.
He said that this issue would be discussed with all democratic parties including PPP and if this propaganda was not stopped then ANP would soon announce its strategy.
