Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Secretary for Housing Mohammad Anwar Khan on Wednesday directed officials to expedite development work on the Nowshera Mega City project, warning that further delays could adversely affect its timely completion.
The directives were issued during a review meeting on the project held at the secretary’s office, said a handout.
The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary Housing Khaliq Dad Khan, Director General Housing Zahid Khan, Project Director New Peshawar Valley Abdul Wadud, Director Technical-I Imran Hilal, Deputy Director Administration Amanul Haq, officials of the housing and revenue departments, representatives of consultant NESPAK, and other relevant authorities.
Officials briefed the meeting on the progress of ongoing development works, the project’s master plan, issues being faced by allottees, land-related complaints and overall implementation of the scheme. The meeting also reviewed the progress, design and technical aspects of Phases I, II and III.
Participants were informed that around 85 per cent of the land required for the project had been acquired. The role and responsibilities of consultant NESPAK also came under discussion.
Mr Anwar directed NESPAK to accelerate work on Phase I and ensure that the current stage of the project was completed as early as possible. He said all relevant departments should work on a priority basis to ensure the timely completion of the housing scheme.
The housing secretary also instructed officials to resolve disputes over land acquisition through consultation and mutual understanding to prevent any disruption to the project’s progress.
He further directed that basic civic facilities should be provided to plot allottees on a priority basis within the available resources.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr Anwar instructed that representatives of NESPAK must attend the next review meeting to facilitate effective monitoring of the project’s progress.
