Jammu and Kashmir’s liberation leader Maqbool Butt’s thirty eighth death anniversary was observed all over Jammu and Kashmir Friday.
Maqbool Bhat was the founder of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF), a party established for the freedom and unification of Jammu and Kashmir. He was hanged in New Delhi’s Tihar jail on 11 February 1984.
Bhat, a resident of Trehgam in frontier district of Kupwara was executed on the charges of killing an Indian intelligence officer and was buried in the Tihar Jail. His body was also not returned to his family.
Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir’s (IIOJK) All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leaders paid glowing tributes to the prominent martyred liberation leader on his 38th martyrdom anniversary.
Senior APHC leader, Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Maqbool Butt was a brave and selfless leader who sacrificed his life for his people and didn’t surrender before the tyrant India.
He deplored that over nine hundred thousand Indian troops have made the life of the people of IIOJK miserable. Al-Moosvi said the sacrifices of Muhammad Maqbool Butt and other martyrs will not be allowed go waste. He maintained that the Kashmiris will achieve freedom.
A rally was held in Muzaffarabad to pay tributes to the prominent martyred Kashmiri leaders, Muhammad Maqbool Butt and Muhammad Afzal Guru on their martyrdom anniversaries.
Rallies and programs were held in Pakistani-administered part of Jammu and Kashmir to mark liberation leader’s death anniversary. Public meetings in Azad Jammu and Kashmir’s (AJK) Hajeera, Rawalakot and Tarakhal were carried out. Speakers said paid rich homage to their leader and said that India and Pakistan must fulfill their promises with the people of Jammu and Kashmir and evacuate the valley immediately.
