PESHAWAR: The mystery the murder in Nowshera was solved on the same day on Monday as police revealed that the victim’s own brother-in-law and sister-in-law were behind the crime. Police said, the Nowshera Cantt Police successfully cracked the case involving the disappearance and murder of a woman from the Muslim Town area. The investigation led to the arrest of the victim’s sister-in-law, Humaira Taj within hours of recovery of woman’s body. She confessed to killing the woman who was said to be eight months pregnant. The case began when Yaseen, a resident of Muslim Town, reported the disappearance of his wife, Uzma, at the Cantt Police Station. Acting on the complaint, police launched an investigation and took Humaira Taj—sister of the complainant—into custody on suspicion. During interrogation, Humaira admitted that she, along with her brothers Saqib and Zahid, murdered Uzma over suspicions and then set her body on fire.
Following her confession, police recovered the burnt remains of the victim and sent them to DHQ Nowshera Kalan for postmortem examination.
Saqib, a co-accused, has also been arrested, while a search operation is underway to apprehend Zahid, who is currently at large.
Further investigations are ongoing.
