PESHAWAR
The by-election for the general seat of the Senate from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is scheduled to be held on Thursday (today) in the Provincial Assembly.
The Provincial Election Commission in a statement issued here stated that the seat became vacant following the resignation of PTI leader Syed Shibli Faraz.
According to the ECP, all preparations for the polling, which will take place from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, have been completed.
Three candidates, Taj Muhammad Afridi, Khurram Zeeshan, and Irfan Saleem, are contesting the by-election, while Abid Khan Yousafzai and Nisar Khan have withdrawn.
Provincial Election Commissioner Saeed Gul will serve as the returning officer.
Joint Provincial Election Commissioner Muhammad Farid Afridi, Director Elections Muhammad Nadeem Khan, Deputy Director Admin Zaheer Ahmed, Deputy Director Media Coordination Sohail Ahmed, Deputy Director Elections Fahad Ali Shah, and Deputy Director Law Muhammad Amjad have been appointed as polling officers.
