Cancer of corruption effects entire country: Chairman NAB

Islamabad:(online): Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has said that corruption is curse which is mother of all the evils. Corruption affects country just like a cancer.
He expressed these views during the visit of Rawalpindi Regional Bureau for its annual inspection.. He said that NAB has been rejuvenated after taking various initiatives and steps.
Senior Member, Chairman’s Inspection and Monitoring Team (CI&MT) briefed the chirman about the performance of NAB regional office Rawalpindi .
He informed the meeting that on the directions of the Chairman NAB, a quantified grading system had been devised. Under this grading system, the performance of all NAB’s Regional Bureaus is being evaluated during January and February 2017 at uniform criteria.
He said that NAB Rawalpindi received 5013 complaints which all were processed in 2016 .NAB Rawalpindi, out of 139 complaint verifications , completed 125 complaint verifications.
NAB Rawalpindi, out of 194 inquiries, completed 115 inquiries whereas out of 93 investigations, completed 57 investigations on merit. During 2016, NAB Rawalpindi has arrested 96 corrupts and filed 34 corruption references in respective Accountability Courts with overall conviction ratio of 75 percent. During 2016, NAB Rawalpindi has recovered Rs 2,088.886 million.
