The Chamkani Police foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of arms and ammunition, adding that the alleged smugglers attempted to smuggle the arms to other cities of the country.
Police said that the arrested person has been identified as Ali Raza resident of Sheikhupora district of Punjab.
During the operation, police party have sized one Kalashnikov, three rifles 223 bore weapons, two rifles 12 bore, two pistols, and several magazines and hundreds of cartridges of different bores.
The arrested person has been working as smuggler and connected with a network, said police initial investigation.
As per detail, police have formed a team led by DSP Chamkani Zahid Alam unearth the network involved in arms smuggling from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Punjab and other parts of the country.
A case has been registered against the accused involved in illegal arms smuggling and investigation has been started from various angles, said police.
