The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Labuor, Fazal Shakur Khan, and the Provincial Minister for Social Welfare, Syed Qasim Ali Shah, on Wednesday formally inaugurated the Child Protection Unit (CPU) in district Charsadda.
Upon the arrival of the provincial ministers, the ministers were warmly welcomed, and bouquets of flowers were presented to them.
After cutting the ribbon to formally open the Child Protection Unit, the provincial ministers conducted a detailed inspection of the unit’s various sections. The ministers were thoroughly briefed regarding the services being provided in the said Child Protection Unit.
The ministers were informed in detail about the medical, legal assistance, shelter, psychological support, child counseling, and other services provided in the unit.
On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony, Provincial Minister Fazal Shakur Khan said that the establishment of the Child Protection Unit in Charsadda would secure the basic rights of children facing abuse, neglect, deprivation of fundamental rights, and exploitation in society.
He emphasized that it is the collective responsibility of everyone to cooperate with the government in building a strong system to protect children from abuse, exploitation, and other forms of mistreatment in society.
He further said that the primary purpose of the establishment of this Child Protection Unit is to identify children at risk, address their issues, and ensure their protection, so that their fundamental rights can be safeguarded, and they can be provided with a safe environment.
The provincial ministers also distributed financial assistance checks to persons with disabilities.
