City School students aspire for excellence in modern sciences

Like their peers across the country, students from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa are striving to make Pakistan proud in cutting-edge fields such as robotics, nuclear science, and space technology.
City School Peshawar students have particularly excelled in this year’s Cambridge exams, showcasing their academic prowess.
Award-winning students emphasized the need for Pakistan to produce experts in modern sciences, moving beyond the traditional focus on medical and engineering fields. They highlighted that the future lies in advancements in space technology and nuclear science, which are essential for the country’s progress.
“These fields will shape our nation’s future,” said one of the top achievers. The students also noted that Pakistan is at a critical juncture, and the youth must take the lead in guiding the country toward a brighter, technologically advanced future.
Students shared their desire to pursue higher education and make their country proud, while noting that government support could empower the youth to change the country’s fate.
During the annual awards ceremony, education experts emphasized the need for acquiring modern knowledge, stressing that keeping up with contemporary demands is crucial for the nation’s future.
Sabahat Tatari, Regional Director of City Schools, highlighted that the City School system has been serving the nation in education and research for the past five decades. She acknowledged the efforts made by the school administration in promoting education, as reflected by the students’ success in both the Cambridge and local education systems.
City School Cluster Head Mahwish Shaukat mentioned that the efforts and dedication of the Peshawar campus teachers have been instrumental in fulfilling the dream of higher education in the province. Despite challenging circumstances, City School continues to play a vital role in advancing education in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Romana Afzal, Principal of City School Peshawar Campus, addressed the audience, explaining how the school system is enhancing educational facilities, with new blocks under rapid construction at the main campus. She added that City School alumni are not only serving the country in key sectors but also making a name internationally.
The awards ceremony for the Cambridge exam high achievers of 2024-2025 took place at Shiraz Hall, organized by the City School Peshawar Campus.
The event’s chief guest was Ms Sabahat Khan Tatari, Regional Director North Region, with Khyber Cluster’s Network Partner, Ms Mahwish Shaukat, as a special guest. Other prominent attendees included MNA Sher Ali Arbab, senior advocate Abdul Rauf Rohela, and Town Campus Headmistress Ms. Nusrat Khattak.
Four former students of City School Peshawar, including Dr. Khushal Khan, Sohaib Ahmed, Syed Muhammad Muneem, and Ms Lillian Shehzadi Khan, shared insights from their respective fields and appreciated City School’s contributions to educational growth.
Awards were presented to high achievers from Grade 10, Grade 11, and A-Level students of the Peshawar Campus, as well as Grade 10 and 11 students from the Town Campus.
Teachers were also honored with Awards of Excellence and certificates based on their outstanding performance and meeting specific standards.
The event aimed to celebrate student success, passion, and continuous efforts while fostering true satisfaction in education.
