Advisor to Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Health Ihtisham Ali on Wednesday ordered suspension of doctors, nurses, and other medical staff of the Badbher Category D Hospital in Peshawar for being absent from duties, said a statement.
Ihtisham Ali paid a surprise visit to the hospital and found several medical staff and doctors absent from duty.
He expressed discontentment on hospital’s administration, stating that the hospital management seemed to be “asleep” while the hospital faced a serious shortage of medical professionals.
“I am deeply disappointed to find that apart from the support staff, no medical personnel are available. This is a tragedy,” said Ihtisham Ali. He added, “The MS and the entire administration should be held accountable for this negligence. Such behavior is unacceptable in public healthcare facilities.” The Health Advisor further announced that he had directed the Secretary of Health to suspend all absent staff immediately. He stated that any staff member not performing their duties is a burden on the healthcare system, and strict action will be taken against those who compromise the public’s health.
“Has anyone ever experienced a delay in receiving their salary? We ensure timely payments and provide medicines on time, so why is there an issue with fulfilling their duties? I do not need staff who do not perform their duties,” he emphasized.
This sudden inspection is part of the Health Advisor’s ongoing efforts to ensure that healthcare workers remain committed to their responsibilities and that public health services are delivered effectively.
