CM says KP govt to ink accords with China

PESHAWAR: Chief Minister Pervez Khattak on Tuesday said that his government would sign agreements with China in communication, infrastructure and energy sectors.
Speaking at a public meeting here, he said that provincial government would sign agreements for three new projects to develop the backward areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“The agreements included 1200 megawatts hydel power generation project and ‘Peshawar valley fast track rail project’ and Chakdarra-Chitral-Gilgit road project,” he said.
He added that the road project would be included later in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He added that a Chinese firm had prepared feasibility study of the fast track rail while the road project would provide access to Afghanistan and Central Asia.
Pervez Khattak said the work on the western route of the CPEC had been launched, adding that his government had demanded three industrial parks. However, he admitted, that every province would get one industrial park.
The chief minister said a firm message had been conveyed to the federal government to convene the meeting of the parliamentary leaders in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly on the CPEC issue.
He said that prime minister had agreed to address the reservations of the religio-political leaders of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Pervez Khattak maintained that his government would complete 2,000 megawatts power generation projects before 2018 election.
