PESHAWAR
Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Food Safety and Halal Food Authority on Wednesday sealed a counterfeit production unit of ‘Rooh Afza’ in Shergarh area of the district and discarded 1200 of spurious drink. The operation was carried out on the instructions of the Director General (DG) of the authority during which more than 1200 liters of counterfeit beverages were seized from the unit. The team members of the authority sealed the manufacturing of unhealthy beverages, said a handout. The officials said that the unit was established in a house where fake red liquor was being prepared by mixing different chemicals and were being supplied to markets under the fake international brand Rokh Afza.
DG Food Safety Authority Shah Rukh Ali Khan that crackdown on counterfeit drinks has been intensified before Ramadan.
He said that strict legal action would be taken against those who harmed public health.
Shah Rukh Ali Khan said that the citizens should also support the Food Safety Authority to ensure full action against the adulteration mafia and in case of any complaint against those who trade in unhealthy items, he added.
