LAHORE
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Lahore on Monday extended the judicial remand of PTI stalwarts Ijaz Chaudhry and Dr Yasmin Rashid in May 9 violence cases until November 22 and November 27, respectively.
Earlier, both Ijaz and Dr. Yasmin were produced in the court on the completion of their judicial remand. During the hearing of their cases, both walked up to the rostrum and prayed to the judge to announce verdicts in their cases early so that they could contest general elections.
The judge assured them that there would be a speedy trial in their cases.
Thousands of people had come out on streets to register their protest against the arrest of the former prime minister and PTI Chairman, Imran Khan, on May 9. They ransacked government and military buildings besides damaging and burning memorials of Pakistan Army’s martyrs.
